For the fifteenth consecutive year,
U.S. News & World Report designated Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas (Baylor Dallas) among the nation's top 50 hospitals in seven categories in its 2007 "America's Best Hospitals" issue. Baylor Dallas is ranked among the nation's top 50 hospitals in seven of 16 specialty areas: digestive disorders (ranked 31st); endocrinology (31st); gynecology (28th); kidney disease (29th); orthopedics (23rd); respiratory disorders (33rd); and urology (44th).
2007 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas received a 2007 VHA Leadership Award for Clinical Excellence in acute myocardial infarction (heart attack) treatment and surgical infection prevention. The award honors organizations that have differentiated themselves around national performance standards by achieving exceptionally high levels of performance.

Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award of Excellence

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas received a Texas Health Care Quality Improvement Award of Excellence from TMF Health Quality Institute (TMF), the Medicare quality improvement organization for Texas. The award recognizes hospitals that have improved their initial baseline performance on specific national quality measures related to acute myocardial infarction, heart failure, and pneumonia.
Citation of Honor by the American Hospital Association's Circle of Life Awards Program

The American Hospital Association (AHA) has awarded the palliative care program at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas a Citation of Honor through the AHA's Circle of Life Awards program. Award recipients are considered to be national leaders in providing quality, compassionate palliative and end-of-life care.
American Diabetes Association Recognition

The Baylor Diabetes Education Center at The Ruth Collins Diabetes Center at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas, The Ruth Collins Diabetes Center at Mesquite, and the Baylor Senior Health Center at Mesquite received American Diabetes Association (ADA) Recognition for another 3 years. Baylor is one of the largest multisite programs in the country. ADA Recognition is necessary for DSMT (diabetes self-management training) reimbursement from Medicare.

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas' Level 1 trauma center - one of only two adult Level 1 centers in Dallas/Fort Worth is verified by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma (ASCOT) with high marks and the highest possible level designation. During that review, ASCOT commended Baylor Dallas trauma services for demonstrating a continued commitment to provide superior trauma care.
Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS)

The cancer program at Baylor University Medical Center received Approval with Commendation from the Commission on Cancer (CoC) of the American College of Surgeons (ACS). Approval by the ACS' CoC is given only to those facilities that have voluntarily committed to providing quality cancer care and that undergo a rigorous evaluation process and review of their performance.
