(FORT WORTH, Texas, June 13, 2007) - Baylor All Saints Medical Center at Fort Worth announced today that the Carter Rehabilitation and Fitness Center will offer SportsmetricsT program. This session will be offered June 18 through July 27 and the cost for this program is $280. The sessions are offered on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m.
"We had great success on our first group of Sportsmetrics participants. By going through this training program, athletes showed improvements in vertical jump, ranging from three to six inches," said Aaron Saldivar, Exercise Specialist, Sports Medicine Program at Baylor All Saints Medical Center. "Our Sportsmetrics session will be ideal timing for athletes that will be starting volleyball season in August. "We are excited about being a Certified Sportsmetrics Clinical site, and we look forward to starting our session in June."
Sportsmetrics identifies ways to:
- reduce the risk of serious knee injury
- increase vertical jump height, up to four inches
- improve hamstrings-to-quadriceps strength ratio and symmetry in right-to-left leg power
- improve landing mechanics and reduce side-to-side movements at the knee
Sportsmetrics is the only training program scientifically proven to decrease knee injuries in female athletes. A six-week jump training program implemented three times a week on alternating days, it features a dynamic warm-up, jump/plyometric drills, strength training and flexibility exercises.
In addition to decreasing the risk of a knee injury, the program will also provide a tremendous amount of pre-season conditioning for the athletes that complete the program prior to beginning a sports season.
