WM. Stephen Boyd Named Senior Vice President- General Counsel for Baylor Health Care System

(DALLAS, Oct. 25, 2007) - Baylor Health Care System has named WM. Stephen Boyd as its new senior vice president-general counsel. Boyd, who formerly served as Baylor's outside legal consultant, was a partner with the law firm of Hunton & Williams LLP. His new role began on July 1, 2007.

In his capacity as general counsel, Boyd will serve as Baylor's chief legal officer and be responsible for all legal and risk management functions.

"Steve has been invaluable in his service to Baylor over the past few months, and we are very proud to have an attorney of his stature and integrity join the health care system," said Joel Allison, president and chief executive officer, Baylor Health Care System.

Boyd served as managing partner for the Texas offices of Hunton & Williams for the past three years and as head of litigation for the past seven. He has 26 years of experience representing various regulated industries in federal and state courts as well as administrative venues. He has also for many years represented the interests of public and private organizations in government investigations. Recently, Boyd was named a Texas Super Lawyer in Super Lawyer magazine.

Boyd earned his B.A. degree from the University of Texas at Arlington and his J.D. degree from Southern Methodist University's Dedman School of Law. Active in the community, he is a member of the Salesmanship Club of Dallas and the Committee for Qualified Judiciary. He presently serves on the board of directors for Salesmanship Club Youth and Family Centers and on the board of trustees for the Dallas Heritage Village.

Baylor Health Care System is a network of hospitals, primary care and specialty care centers, rehabilitation clinics, affiliated ambulatory surgery centers and the Baylor Research Institute. One of the largest private-sector employers in Dallas/Fort Worth, Baylor employs more than 16,000 people and has more than 2,700 physicians on its medical staffs. Baylor University Medical Center, flagship hospital of the system, is a major patient care, teaching and research center for the Southwest. For fiscal year 2007, Baylor Health Care System will report $390 million in community benefit to the Texas Department of State Health Services.
