Baylor Health Care System: Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine Volunteers Auxiliary Donates More Than 33,000 Hours in 2007

(GRAPEVINE, TEXAS – Jan. 24, 2008) – In 2007, Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine volunteers donated 33,442 hours or the equivalent of 16 full-time employees whose time equates to $437,184.

"I am honored to work along side a group of people whose values perfectly align with this hospital and community," states Sally Wilson, Baylor Grapevine volunteer services manager. "They worked tirelessly each and every day assisting the hospital employees, physicians, patients and families."
The volunteer auxiliary consists of community members who donate their time throughout the hospital in numerous ways including, but not limited to, delivering flowers, distributing mail, operating the gift shop and assisting staff with transporting patients to and from their rooms. They also host many fundraising activities and coordinate special events throughout the year. The Caring Hearts volunteers, a subgroup of volunteer auxiliary, visit with patients and their families at Baylor Grapevine who are undergoing a cardiac procedure such as a cardiac catheterization or angioplasty.
