Total Compensation

At Baylor we know that although your base salary is a significant part of your compensation, it's not the whole picture.

Did you know that Baylor spends over 50% of its patient care revenues on employees' salaries and benefits? It's important to us that we bring you a variety of programs and benefits that support your personal as well as professional goals. We know that individual needs and interests are different and having choices is important to you.

Whether your goals include saving for retirement or going back to school, we have a wide range of programs to meet your needs. We are also one of the only healthcare systems in the southwest to offer a free concierge service to our employees. The Baylor Butler is available 24 hours a day, via telephone or online, to handle your travel plans, research products and services, and much more.

Baylor understands how vital the health of you and your family is to your peace of mind. That's why we offer a choice of medical plan options, so that you can select the coverage that suits you best. At Baylor, eligibility for medical benefits is available day one.

Here's an overview of Baylor's Total Compensation package:

Medical
Baylor offers three plan options:
  • Lumenos CDP Gold - Offers you the choice of visiting any licensed physician, the opportunity to roll over your health reimbursement account from year to year and tools to help manage your healthcare needs.
  • Lumenos CDP Silver - Offers benefits identical to the Gold Option but has a higher out-of-pocket maximum and lower premium costs.
  • Lumenos CDP Bronze - Offers benefits identical to the other plan options, but with the highest out-of-pocket maximum and the lowest premium costs.
Each medical option includes prescription drug benefits through retail pharmacies and mail order.

Dental
  • Aetna DMO is our managed care option. You must select a primary care dentist for you and each covered family member. You pay no deductibles and receive most preventive care at no cost. You pay only your share of the cost for other dental expenses and the amount depends on the services you receive.
  • MetLife PPO is the preferred provider option. You may use in-network and/or out-of-network providers. The plan pays 100% of preventive care with no deductible. You must meet a deductible before benefits for other types of dental services begin.

Vision
Coverage is offered through Superior Vision Services. You may use in-network or out-of-network vision care providers. You may receive benefits for either contact lenses or eyeglass frames once every twelve months.

Life Insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D)
  • Basic Employee Life Insurance is paid by Baylor and provides you basic life insurance equal to your annualized base pay (based on authorized hours in primary position) up to $50,000.
  • Voluntary Life Insurance provides additional coverage and is available for you, your spouse, and/or child(ren).
  • Basic AD&D Insurance is paid by Baylor and provides Basic AD&D coverage equal to your annualized base pay up to $50,000 (based on authorized hours in primary position).
  • Voluntary AD&D Insurance is available for you and your family.

Disability
  • After 90 days of service, eligible employees receive three days of sick pay per calendar year (two days for TDA employees)
  • After 90 days of service, Baylor provides eligible employees Basic Short-Term Disability (STD) protection at no cost. After a qualified employee misses three consecutive working days due to a qualified illness, STD pays 100% or 60% of annualized base pay (based upon authorized hours in primary position) for a maximum of 180 days if approved.
  • Basic Long-Term Disability (LTD), provided by Baylor at no cost to eligible employees, provides protection when a disability extends beyond 180 days. It pays 50% of annualized base pay (based on authorized hours in primary position) up to a maximum of $15,000 per month, if approved.
  • Voluntary Long-Term Disability gives you the option to increase your LTD coverage by an additional 20% to a total of 70% of annualized base pay (based upon authorized hours in primary position) to a maximum of $15,000 per month. If you wish to elect coverage after initially enrollment period, evidence of Insurability will be required.

Flexible Spending Accounts (FSA)
Baylor offers the Health Care FSA and the Dependent Day Care FSA. Contributions are deducted from your paycheck before federal income taxes, resulting in lower overall taxes paid.
  • You may elect to pay for eligible healthcare expenses with pre-tax deposits to the Health Care FSA. Certain over-the-counter medications are reimbursable from the Health Care FSA.
  • You may elect to pay for eligible dependent day care expenses with pre-tax deposits to the Dependent Day Care FSA.

You may view your FSA account balances, including year-to-date contributions, claims, and reimbursements, online.

You may elect to direct deposit reimbursements for both accounts.

Paid Time Off (PTO)
You are eligible for PTO after three months of employment.

PTO may be used as vacation pay, personal time off, and holiday pay. PTO accrues based on regular hours worked. The annual accrual for regular, full-time employees is 152 hours for 1-4 years of service and 192 hours for 5-9 years of service.

You may be eligible to sell back your PTO at the end of the year for 90% of its value.

Tuition Reimbursement
Full-time employees are eligible following six months of employment. Baylor reimburses 100% of "residency" in-state rates for approved courses completed with a grade of "C-" or above.

Retirement Savings Plan
You are immediately eligible to make contributions and receive Company Matching funds. Employees may contribute 1% - 50% of eligible pay on a pre-tax and after tax basis.

Baylor contributes $1 for each $1 you contribute (up to 5% of eligible pay). Company Matching funds vest on a five year schedule.
