Men's Health is a Family Issue

To quote New Mexico Governor Bill Richardson (Congressional
Record, H3905-H3906, May 24, 1994): "Recognizing and preventing men's health problems is not just a man's issue. Because of its impact on wives, mothers, daughters and sisters, men's health is truly a family issue."
Although Gov. Richardson made that statement nearly 12 years ago, the power in the message remains today. According to a recent U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention study, women are 100 percent more likely to visit a physician for annual examinations and preventive services than men are. This is a staggering statistic, because as your wives, mothers, daughters, sisters, aunts and cousins, we depend on you to be an important part of our lives.
As president of Baylor Regional Medical Center at Grapevine, my responsibility is to create opportunities to provide quality resources for you and your family to receive safe, quality and compassionate health care. That's why I strongly encourage you to become proactive when it comes to your health. Take full advantage of health resources in your community and right here at Baylor Grapevine.
We occasionally offer free or low-cost events to promote the importance of men's health. For example, Baylor Grapevine is hosting a free Men's Health Day on Saturday, July 8 from
9 a.m. to 1 p.m. At this event, men can benefit from various preventive health screenings and health information. If you'd like more information, call 1-800-4BAYLOR or visit our Web site at BaylorHealth.com.
In good health,
Laura J. Lycan
