Good morning Dan.

So Dr. Winter—this sounds like good news?
DR. WINTER
It's great news for those who successfully give up cigarettes. Researchers found that within five years of quitting-a former smoker's risk of dying from lung cancer drops by more than 20%... their risk of dying from heart disease drops by almost 50%.
And that's not all. Twenty years after quitting-a former smoker's risk of dying from a smoking-related illnesses becomes almost as low as that of someone who never smoked at all. And we should add this study was done in those who smoked for more than a decade.
DAN BELL
So the new research seems to prove it's never too late to quit…
DR. WINTER
True. People who quit smoking, regardless of their age or how long they smoked-live longer. That's the bottom line.
DAN BELL
