Heart and Vascular Care at Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas

Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas has been named one of the nation's top 100 cardiovascular hospitals, as heart and vascular physicians on the medical staff at Baylor constantly strive to develop new drug treatments and surgical techniques.

Acute Stroke Unit
As part of a comprehensive stroke program, Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas opened an acute stroke unit on the 8th floor at Roberts Hospital and will unveil a dedicated stroke area on the 9th floor.

In the acute stroke unit, the care team provides acute stroke care with continuous neurological and cardiac monitoring. The stroke area on the 9th floor serves as a centralized patient care area for stable stroke patients. The medical staff team includes neurologists, emergency department physicians, interventional neuroradiologists, neurosurgeons and physiatrists. Units are staffed with nurses certified in the National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale. Occupational and physical therapists and speech pathologists are key members of the team for comprehensive care and recovery.

Stroke patients at Baylor Dallas will benefit from this specialized care via multidisciplinary team involvement. Studies have shown improved outcomes and recovery when implementing a comprehensive program such as this one.
