Heart and Vascular Education and Support at Baylor Irving
After being diagnosed with a heart-related condition, adjusting to your life again can be difficult. Baylor Medical Center at Irving offers several support and education programs to help you get back on track.
Caring Hearts® -- volunteers offer help, encouragement and emotional support to cardiac patients and their families by serving as role models for a healthy recovery from a cardiac event. Pre- and post-interventional visits and pre- and post-surgical visits by a volunteer with a similar history help alleviate anxiety and provide support.
Outpatient Cardiac Rehabilitation - a six-week program held Monday, Wednesday and Friday for some cardiac patients. Patients exercise on treadmills and stationary bikes to improve endurance while being monitored by nurses. Cardiac education classes are also available once a month.
