Gastroenterology Program
The Gastroenterology Program at Our Children's House at Baylor provides both medical and behavioral support to children and their families. The inpatient program is designed to give both the child and the family tools and techniques to succeed with new feeding skills and independence.
Children and their families undergo a comprehensive assessment to determine a treatment plan based on their unique needs. A team of specialistsincluding physicians, speech/language pathologists, psychologists, dieticians, occupational therapists and otherswork closely together. Our multidisciplinary team works to ensure that your child returns home medically stable with healthy eating habits.
We make every effort to include a child's family during his or her treatment. Our experienced staff helps teach the family about their child's condition and how to manage symptoms at home. In addition to learning medical and therapeutic care, they can participate in patient care conferences with other members of the treatment team. When the child leaves the program, family members are well-equipped to handle most medical or behavioral situations at home. Additionally, we offer parents resources to cope with stress and other difficulties during their child's treatment.
