Our Children's House at Irving

Our Children's House at Irving is dedicated to improving the health and quality of life of children with special needs, their families and their communities.

A team of experienced pediatric specialists aims to help children achieve and maintain maximum function and independence, while providing their families with the support and resources they need.

Our Services
Pediatric specialists evaluate and treat patients in a warm, comfortable environment designed especially for children. Our services include:
  • Care coordination: Our social workers coordinate team treatment and referrals and serve as the patient's advocate
  • Child Care: Our child care specialists care for children with special health needs and work with therapists to incorporate treatment into daily routine
  • Developmental screenings and equipment assessments: Our specialists provide screenings or evaluations to determine if new or additional services or equipment are needed
  • Occupational therapy: We help patients function as independently as possible by improving strength and fine motor skills, self-care skills, visual perception/motor skills, handwriting and sensory processing
  • Parent education and support: Our specialists teach parents how to continue therapy at home and provide education and referral resources
  • Parent groups: We offer educational workshops and support groups for parents
  • Physical therapy: Our therapists assist patients in improving muscle strength, motor skills and balance
  • Social services: Our social workers provide referral services as well as child and family case management
  • Speech/language therapy: Our therapists assist children with age-appropriate articulation, language and oral-motor feeding skills

Specialized Treatment Programs
In addition to our standard services, we offer specialized programs specifically tailored to your child's unique needs:
  • Bilingual services
  • Fast Forward® uses computer technology to help the child process language sound components
  • Feeding program
  • Handwriting (dysgraphia)
  • Interactive Metronome® uses computer technology to improve the child's motor coordination, including planning, timing, and sequencing
  • Sensory integration
