Lung Cancer Treatment at Baylor

Lung cancer remains the leading cause of cancer death in both men and women. More people die of the disease than from colon, breast, and prostate cancers combined.

Radiosurgery

A new application of radiosurgical techniques is for tumors of the lung, liver, kidney, prostate, pancreas, breast and other organs. Physicians on the medical staff at Baylor are participating in national protocols for these options.

Defeating Lung Cancer: Connie West

In June 1999, Connie West, a meeting and incentive planner from Waxahachie, Texas, went to her doctor with a bad cold. An X-ray eventually led to a diagnosis of lung cancer-- a disease that claims more than 150,000 lives each year. Connie was referred to a clinical trial at Baylor Dallas that is testing experimental treatments for advanced lung cancer. Although two initial therapies did not clear Connies cancer, the third one did.
