Diabetes Services
Enjoying life while living with diabetes means controlling diabetes, not just treating its symptoms. Baylor recognizes that diabetes strikes people of every age, race, and gender, and concentrates efforts on helping individuals through diabetes management programs, education, and ongoing clinical research.
Type 2 diabetes is a silent killer that goes hand-in-hand with cardiovascular disease. Priscilla Hollander, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of Baylor University Medical Center at Dallas premiere Ruth Collins Diabetes Center, nationally recognized by the American Diabetes Association, is conducting research on the many new types of insulin available today.
When insulin is the treatment of choice, it is the final option. A challenge exists today to better treat those patients using insulin. Expected outcomes from this research will lead to a better quality of life for Type 2 diabetes patients in the short term and lower emergency or acute-care costs from hospital visits in the long term.
